Near Future Tense
Le futur proche (the near future)
The (near) future is formed by:
- the verb “aller” in the present tense
- followed by the infinitive of the main verb
Examples
French | English |

Christine va partir dans deux secondes | Christine will leave in two seconds |
Elle va aller au supermarché | Elle va aller au supermarché |
It can be translated to mean “I am going to”
The near future is used when:
- something is “near”, going to happen soon
- something is almost certain: it is going to happen
